English translation
Mencius said, “Among the ways of observing a person, none is better than looking at the pupils. The pupils cannot conceal what is bad within. When the heart is upright, the eyes are clear; when the heart is not upright, the eyes are clouded. Listen to what someone says and look at their pupils—how could that person hide?”
